Jennifer Norback

Jennifer Norback

Creative Director

Jennifer Norback’s commitment and sensitivity to the unique needs of the artist has been forged out of a 30 year career in the International Contemporary Art World. Poised between Paris and Chicago, first as a gallery director, then as a gallery owner, she met and became close to some of the most influential people working in the arts today. In addition to the monthly exhibition cycle of Chicago’s River North Gallery District where it was headquartered, her gallery, Jennifer Norback Fine Art, Inc., exhibited regularly in Paris and Greece and participated in the international art fairs of Paris, New York, Chicago, and Beirut. She has served as guest curator for many prestigious art institutions including the Chicago’s Cultural Center, The Australian Embassy of Washington DC, and LUMA. Most recently in the role of Executive Director of the Oak Park Art League, she developed studio spaces for working artists and course content for educators in the arts. She is looking forward to utilizing her full background in building up the Teravana Art Residency program.

Misha Goro

Misha Goro

Resident Artist & Printmaking Chair Advisor

A prominent painter, printmaker, and educator, Misha Goro has lived and worked in Russia, Europe, Israel, and the USA. He received an M.F.A. in printmaking at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Currently, he holds the position of Chairperson of the Graphic Design Department at the American Academy of Art College in Chicago. His works can be found in numerous private and public collections and have received a number of prestigious international awards in Japan, Korea, Europe, China, and the USA. In the role of Master Printmaker he has been invited to work and teach in the world’s best printmaking studios including, Guanlan Print Base in China, East London Printmakers Residency in UK, and Frans Masereel Center Residency in Belgium. He describes his practice as a continuous creative search for raw authenticity in urban environments and human forms that are constantly changing.

John Toki

John Toki

Ceramics Chair Advisor

Professional artist, educator, and author, John Toki is well known to the Bay Area as an award winning leader in the world of ceramic arts. His numerous monumental public installations include The Oakland Museum of California and City Hall, The American Museum of Ceramics, Carnegie museum, the Contemporary Museum in Cincinnati, and the Los Angeles County Arboretum. He has taught internationally both in professional colleges such as California College of Arts and as workshop leader in some of the world’s best art residency studios including Kohler Arts Center in Wisconsin, European Ceramic Work Center in Holland, Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts in Maine, Anderson Ranch Art Center in Colorado, and Idyllwild Art and Mendocino Art Center in California. Having literally written the text- book on ceramics (Hands in Clay, Oxford University Press, 1st edition, 1979 - 6th edition due Aug., 2022) he brings great technical expertise alongside his artistic vision to the Teravana Ceramics Program.

Barry Ebner

Barry Ebner is a Bay Area based internationally recognized artist who primarily works with techniques of intaglio and monotype. Over the last 25 years he has had over 20 solo exhibitions, throughout California and the western part of the United States. He received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas and his Master of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Printmaking from the California College of the Arts. Along with pursuing his studio work he is also an Instructor at the Academy of Arts University in San Francisco. He most recently led a printmaking collaboration in Santiago, Chile working with 11 other artists to create an exhibition of collaborative monoprints that were exhibited in Valparaiso, Chile. He works out of The Studio of Nothing Else. His work is primarily abstract, but a love of nature and living on the California coast has inspired him to explore a side track of plein aire painting.
